The catalogue of the exhibition "The Kapists. The Joy and The Torment of Colour" presents paintings from The Krzysztof Musiał Collection. The publication contains over two hundred reproductions of paintings and photographs and it tells the story of that remarkable group of young Polish artists, who in September 1924 spontaneously left Cracow for Paris. Those students, self-proclaimed as the Paris Committee (abbreviated as K.P.) and later referred to as the "Kapists", were probably the most recognisable artistic group on the Polish art scene of the past century. Being students of the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts, they followed their teacher, Professor Józef Pankiewicz, who encouraged them to visit France and get to know French and international art as well as to visit galleries and museums, especially the Louvre.
They went there with enough money to stay for six weeks but ended up staying for more than six years.
