Stanisław Baj. Everything Flows

September 23, 2011 - November 26, 2011

The exhibition focuses on Baj's landscapes, one of two themes essential to his art. he has remained faithful to a single location on the shore of the meandering Bug River from which he observes and analyses the volatile spectacle of nature. He paints his favourite motif from nature but interpretations range from realistic to abstract but underlain with symbolism.

His deliberately limited focus has proven conducive to formal experimentation. The exhibition features works created during the recent decade or so: some are shown to the public for the first time.

Stanisław Baj was born in 1953 at Dolhobrody in the remote region of Podlase. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (class of Ludwik Maciąg). He joined the Academy's faculty in 1982. Currently he is professor at the Faculty of Painting and the Academy's Vice-Rector.
The exhibition is accompanied by an illustrated catalogue in Polish and English with essays by Magdalena Sołtys and Wiesław Myśliwski and introduction by Krzysztof Musiał.
