The present exhibition features a selection of oil paintings by Antoni Starowieyski created in the recent decade. During this period, when his style has crystallized, the artist explores traditional subjects: interior, figure in an interior, and landscape. By eliminating superficial details, he has reached a comprehensive and harmonious painterly vision built of colour and light, animated by colour contrasts and textural effects reflecting the artist's study of perception. Antoni Starowieyski was born in 1973 in Warsaw where he continues to live and work. In 1992-1997, he studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (class of Professor Stefan Gierowski). In 1997, he joined the Academy's faculty and was appointed Assistant Professor in 2007. He pursues painting and drawing. In 1996, he received a scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. In 1999, he won an Honourable Mention at the Geppert Competition at the National Young Painting Exhibition.
The illustrated catalogue accompanying the exhibition contains essays by Jarosław Modzelewski and Artur Tarnikowski.
